The BUV Reference Group will meet on Tuesday 30th November at the old Park View Hotel. (Appointed representatives only)
There are two presentations on the meeting agenda – a project update and a second presentation dealing with the history mapping project. The long awaited Bowden Urban Village Master Plan is also due to be released soon (depending on ministerial approval) as is the launch of a BUV specific website.
This latter stage will most likely coincide with the formal rezoning process commencement, which now is delayed by some 12 months past the projects’ initial time frame. As one brown site mixed use developer pointed out recently,
“We wanted to grow organically, like a real neighborhood. And because we’ve done that, we’ve been able to keep going even with the economy the way it is.”

Of interest is the range of financial offsets available for this particular development – including the state renaissance zone provisions -
“..which means residents and businesses pay no state personal or business income taxes or local property taxes until the benefit expires in 2017. Most of the buildings qualify for federal and state historic restoration tax credits.”
Residents/ local groups should get in touch with one of the following contacts if they have input and/or questions regarding the Clipsal redevelopment:
Nexus Multicultural Arts Centre
Bowden Residents Action Group
Hindmarsh Greening
Hindmarsh Historical Society
Carmela Luscri
Lindsay Holmes
This list may change after the first meeting of the new Charles Sturt Council.
