Granite Balls not up to scratch - Boucatt Reserve

Clearly, the Boucatt Reserve plans call for granite boulders:marbles

Several of the recently delivered  boulders are already crumbling at the slightest touch.
(Note: The rocks are supplied by “Just Rocks” of Cavan, and are a form of Gabbro – see wikipedia :
Ocellar varieties of gabbro can be used as ornamental facing stones, paving stones and it is also known by the trade name of 'black granite', which is a popular type of graveyard headstone used in funerary rites. It is also used in kitchens and their countertops, also under the misnomer of 'black granite'.

Update 7/1/2011:
Final turf laying after the boulders have been lifted on site:

 “What do they mean?” – it is possible that there are funerary associations intended. However one view from those on-site is that the boulders represent an “inverted” paw-print raised out of the historically  disrupted clay or pug hole of former use.
